OWC Shortlisted for Two Prestigious Wind Investment Awards in 2025

OWC has been shortlisted in two categories at the 2025 Wind Investment Awards, hosted by Tamarindo, which celebrates excellence in the global wind industry.

OWC, The Renewable Energy Consultants, is a finalist for the Project Finance Deal of the Year – Advisers and Technical Adviser of the Year awards. These nominations highlight OWC’s expertise in delivering independent technical advisory services that support successful investments in offshore and onshore wind projects worldwide.

OWC’s nomination for Technical Adviser of the Year acknowledges its leadership in providing high-quality technical due diligence (TDD) and commercial due diligence (CDD) services. With a strong global presence, OWC continues to support investors, lenders, and developers in unlocking wind energy projects and navigating complex transactions across the renewable energy landscape.

Over the past year, OWC has reinforced its technical advisory services under the leadership of Christian Apeah, Head of Independent Engineering. The company has played a pivotal role in guiding clients through financial close on significant renewable energy transactions, ensuring technical bankability, and mitigating project risks. From wind resource assessments to grid integration and environmental due diligence, OWC remains a trusted partner for major renewable energy stakeholders.

OWC’s nomination for Project Finance Deal of the Year – Advisers recognises its role as the lenders’ technical adviser for the financing of the Windanker offshore wind project in Germany.

The Windanker project is a 315MW offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea, developed by Iberdrola’s Windanker GmbH. OWC was appointed as the independent technical adviser to support Santander and a consortium of lenders in assessing Kansai’s acquisition of a 49% stake in the project.

As part of this engagement, OWC conducted a comprehensive technical and environmental due diligence (TDD) review before financial close. The assessment covered key project aspects, including turbine technology, foundation design, inter-array cable systems, export cables, and offshore substations. OWC’s expert recommendations ensured the project’s bankability, enabling a successful transaction for Kansai and its financing partners.

“Being shortlisted for these awards reflects the strength of our technical advisory services and the trust our clients place in us. As lenders’ technical adviser on the Windanker financing, we provided comprehensive due diligence to ensure a successful transaction. Across our global advisory services, we remain committed to enabling bankable, high-impact renewable energy projects that drive the industry forward,” says Christian Apeah, Head of Independent Engineering, OWC.
