OWC staff volunteer time for London charity

Many hands make light work! Eight OWC staff gave a day of their time to help make a difference to a charity in Brixton, SE London.

The team visited Dexter’s Adventure Playground, a small charity making a big difference to the local community. It provides play, support, education & food to local children and their families at its fun-filled, outdoor play centre.

The team took on the challenge of transforming a rubbish littered and derelict area of the park into a colourful family picnic area.

“It was a hugely rewarding,” said Aimee Besant. “I live in Brixton and it felt really good to see the difference we all made to the site in a day by working together. It was good to be a little creative and get outdoors away from the screen.”

Jessica Watts also enjoyed taking part and the experience of volunteering alongside new colleagues. “As a fairly new starter it was a great opportunity to meet and find out more about my new colleagues. It was also really interesting finding out about the work of the charity and their support for vulnerable young people.”

Pam from the charity was delighted with the efforts of the team. “I can’t thank you enough. We’re a small charity with so much to do on the site and the help was very much appreciated. The tasks completed would have taken us weeks to do on our own. Thank you for giving your time and helping to make a difference.”
