OWC Germany appoints renewable energy specialist as new country manager
OWC is pleased to announce the appointment of renewable energy engineer and experienced German offshore wind portfolio manager, Nils Falkenhorst, as Country Manager to OWC’s operations in Germany, reinforcing our commitment to this important wind energy market.
Nils joins the OWC Germany team, based in Hamburg, following 5 years of working for one of Germany’s leading energy providers, EnBW as an offshore wind portfolio development manager and some other engagements within the industry.
“I am pleased to join OWC’s increasingly growing team in Germany, based in the heart of the country’s offshore and marine industry, Hamburg. My professional and academic background has always firmly been in the engineering of renewable energy solutions to drive a more sustainable future. This has arguably never been as critical as it is now, to ensure Germany’s future energy security, in turn impacting wider European energy security.”
Nils Falkenhorst, OWC Germany Country Manager
Nils’ experience includes leading offshore wind M&A transactions as well as the development of offshore wind opportunities in Norway, Poland, Ireland and the German North Sea. He was also responsible for the integration of the hydrogen and offshore wind industry for his previous employer.
His expertise also extends to the integration of energy efficiency technologies such as solar PV, with experience in various global markets.
“Germany is a critical renewable and wind energy market in Europe. An early pioneer in onshore wind and solar PV, with recognised wind resource potential, we strongly welcome the government’s renewed intent to turbo-charge expansion of the country’s renewables market. This is not only key to making a dent in Europe’s race to net-zero, but also to reduce the continent’s reliance on imported fossil fuels with increasing energy costs. Nils joining the team confirms our ongoing commitment to the German renewable energy market, not only in wind, but also to help local developers in their exploration of other prospective markets or endeavours in energy efficiency infrastructures such as battery energy storage and hydrogen production.”
