Meet the Team: Rachel Crabtree | OWC London
At OWC, our teams are constantly expanding, into more locations, in expertise and in sectors of influence, so that our people can truly drive safety and sustainability across our energy and oceans. Our people are at the heart of what we do, and we invite you to get to know our team members so you can meet the energy behind change.
As our Environment And Consents (E&C) team continues to grow, we’ve lots of new faces to introduce! This week, we say hello to Rachel Crabtree, a principal consultant based in our London office.
Position: Principal Consultant
Office: OWC London
Hobbies: Reading, walking with my dog, swimming, theatre (watching not performing!)
What does your day-to-day look like at OWC?
It’s very varied, since starting at OWC I have worked on projects at different phases and in several different countries.
I really enjoy the learning opportunities and challenges that this presents, and it helps to keep me growing and developing in my role all the time.
What inspired you to join your industry?
My educational background is marine biology, and I have a keen interest in nature and the environment. I wanted to work in an industry where I could use my knowledge but also contribute towards combating climate change, the renewables industry is perfect for this and it’s great feeling that my day to day is making some small difference.
Can you tell us about something exciting you are working on right now?
I have really been enjoying working on some international projects recently, last week alone I worked on projects in Greece, Portugal, Germany, and Norway.
What does the future look like in energy and oceans in the United Kingdom?
The offshore wind and renewables industry in the UK is growing, with new and interesting technologies on the horizon including floating offshore wind and tidal and wave energy. I look forward to seeing where this takes us over the next decade.
What do you enjoy most about working as part of OWC Korea?
Everyone in the OWC team has been so friendly and welcoming since I started. It’s nice going into the London office and having the opportunity to have a coffee and a catch up with colleagues that I would otherwise only see via Teams.
