Give us a glimpse into your day-to-day life at OWC. What keeps you on your toes?

My day-to-day at OWC feels like solving a high-tech puzzle. What keeps me on my toes is how fast the BESS market moves; there’s always a new supplier or a technical update just around the corner. My daily challenge is filtering through all that noise to ensure our clients don’t just buy a battery, but the exact solution that fits their business model. Finding that perfect ‘match’ is what makes no two days the same!

What drew you to the industry and what keeps you passionate about it?

I chose renewables because of the impact the industry has, but I stayed in the BESS world because of the fascinating complexity it brings.

Here in Spain, we are at a pivotal moment, and what keeps me driven is the sheer pace of the sector. I’m passionate about staying close to the suppliers and using that insight to ensure our clients never feel lost- instead, they feel empowered with the right technology to lead the energy transition.

Can you tell us about something exciting that you are working on right now?

What excites me most about my day-to-day at OWC is unlocking BESS projects within the Spanish market. Acting as the Owner’s Engineer, my focus is on overcoming the permitting hurdles and financing uncertainties that can sometimes slow down the sector in Spain. I’m passionate about auditing suppliers to ensure that the technology isn’t a risk, but a guarantee of success. Turning a project filled with bureaucratic and technical obstacles into an operational, bankable, and secure reality for the investor is what truly keeps me on my toes.

As Spain enters a ‘repowering’ chapter for onshore wind, with energy storage emerging as a key lever for successful life extension, what should developers be looking for in an ideal energy storage site to ensure a project that is not just ‘add-a-battery’ – but genuinely value-creating?

An ideal site should offer genuine technical synergy with the existing wind resource and, crucially, a grid connection infrastructure that allows for the full optimization of ancillary services.

It’s not just about capacity; it’s about bankability and operational safety.

Developers should seek suppliers and sites that guarantee the BESS will function as a high-performing hybrid asset, capable of providing a profitable second life to wind assets while navigating the price volatility of the Spanish market.

Beyond the work, what makes you tick outside of the office?

If I’m not in the office, you’ll probably find me planning my next trip. I’m fascinated by exploring and learning from new cultures; I’ve always been a deeply curious person, and that drive to understand how things work extends far beyond my professional life. While I deeply enjoy everything Spain has to offer, I love stepping out of my comfort zone to see what else is out there. Traveling, learning, and discovering new perspectives are the things that truly make me tick.
