Matthew joined OWC as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer in February 2023. He has worked in the offshore wind industry since his arrival in the UK in August 2019. Matthew has recently relocated to Australia to support the growth of the industry in the APAC region.
Matthew has strong analytical skills and a good all-round knowledge of offshore wind, having worked on several projects located in Europe, Asia and America. Matthew has led delivery of a wide range of jobs including; foundation design and installation studies (driveability, pile run and leg penetration analysis) for fixed and floating offshore wind projects, detailed geotechnical interpretation of site investigation data including cylcic soil testing, laboratory management and SI strategy, commercial feasibility studies for fixed and floating foundations, scour assessment and protection design, and quantitative cable burial risk assessments. Matthew also has experience developing efficient, bespoke software tools for analysis of geotechnical data as well as for the design of offshore structures.
Matthew also has 6 years of experience working in civil and tunnel engineering projects in Australia, including earthworks design, construction support, geotechnical site investigations, tunnel design, foundation analysis and verification. He has also worked on several mining projects, including investigation of a tailings storage facility, design of bulk earthworks strategy for various mine rehabilitation projects, preparation of 3D model and construction drawings for overburden emplacement areas and design of sediment detention basins. He often led delivery of fieldwork, including organising subcontractors, preparing and implementing safety documentation, obtaining permits, liaising with local authorities and undertaking the work on site.
