OWC attends LiDAR workshop in Massachusetts
OWC’s Patrick Schwenk joins other leading LiDAR experts for IEA’s Wind Task 32 and 37 workshop in Amherst Massachusetts on the 17th and 18th of October.
This workshop’s aims are to identify a process for determining the reduction in cost-of-energy made possible by Lidar-Assisted Control (LAC) deployed on wind turbines (WTGs). Due to the costs of integrating the LiDAR equipment into the WTG design among other reasons, it has been proven difficult to determine the actual reduction in the cost-of-energy.
The objective of the workshop is to combine current experience in LiDAR-assisted WTG controller design and modelling from the Task 32 with the knowledge of systems engineering analysis using reference WTG models from Task 37 to show how WTGs can be optimized with LAC.
Patrick will also be attending AWEA in Boston on the 22nd and 23rd of October and can discuss our expertise in wind measurement risks and floating LiDAR as well as other risk topics.
