About

Masataka Nakagawa is working as a Country Manager in Japan since January 2025 and at OWC since June 2021. He is a marine, structural and civil engineer with significant knowledge and experience for floating offshore wind projects over 7 years. He had been working as an engineer at one of leading offshore wind EPCI contractor in Japan and responsible for performing integrated load analysis with representative operational and parked conditions using combined external loads (wind, wave and current), which are obtained by measurement tower/buoy installed at actual sea, to calculate both extreme and fatigue loads for floating offshore wind turbine and its mooring system.

In addition, he was responsible for offshore installation activities, managing the marine contractors, perform relevant technical calculations, and keeping the schedule on time. He also supported the site preparation work, foundation fabrication work (steel/concrete), onshore assembly work, and load-out activities.

He was also responsible for design optimisation of mooring system for floating offshore wind turbines. In this project, he had successfully managed the design, manufacture, and installation of the Japan’s first synthetic mooring for floating offshore wind turbine.

At OWC, he was project manager of 30+ early stage floating offshore wind projects over the last 3.5 years, such as site screening, desktop study, market study, foundation design (both steel and concrete), hull fabrication and WTG integration study, technical due diligence and feasibility study for commercial scale floating wind farm.
