You will provide expert analysis and advice relating to, but not limited to offshore transmission systems including high and low voltage engineering in owner’s engineer technical advisory, technical due diligence, and power systems desktop study roles.

Title: Principal Geotechnical Engineer
Location: London (or Hamburg, or Warsaw)

Job overview

The Principal Geotechnical Engineer will work on engineering and consultancy assignments for offshore wind farm and oil and gas projects on a global basis. The Principal Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for leading teams to deliver complex geotechnical engineering projects.

Key responsibilities and duties

  • Running of the geotechnical group: providing line management support, and coordinating the geotechnical group within OWC to accomplish the overall delivery of optimum solutions to clients with the timeframe, costs and quality standards established. Keeping projects on budget and on schedule
  • Undertake a variety of engineering analyses including foundation design, leg penetration/extraction analysis, drivability analyses, geotechnical interpretations and cable route assessment
  • Independently prepare tenders and proposals
  • Take a lead in business development activities
  • Implement best practice in geotechnical assessment and design
  • Review geotechnical designs, method statements and submissions by contractors to ensure geotechnical issues are accounted for
  • Undertake desk studies and assessing sources of site information prior to field investigations
  • Develop a capability to undertake BPI assessments for subsea cable routes
  • Attending conferences, writing and delivering of technical papers, representing OWC and promoting our skills and competencies in the offshore wind sector
  • Ensure all deliverables are conducted in full compliance with approved instructions, procedures and policies
  • Responsible for being the coach and mentor for graduate and junior engineers

Specific requirements

  • The role is office based with flexibility to working hours. Extensive travel within Europe and occasionally further overseas is a requirement of the job. It is also envisaged that the role will involve offshore work on occasions

  • Excellent geotechnical engineering knowledge with experience in managing small teams to deliver projects for clients
  • Experienced in the scoping, management, supervision and interpretation of offshore site investigations
  • Experience of jack-up leg penetration analyses
  • Ability to undertake scour assessments, pile drivability and extraction analyses
  • Ability to co-ordinate, direct and lead projects and work under own initiative with minimum supervision

Title: Junior Subsea Cable Project Engineer
Location: London, UK

Job overview

The Junior Subsea Cable Project Engineer will work as part of a team on engineering and consultancy assignments for a range of offshore wind farm projects. The role will involve working on several projects simultaneously and will suit an ambitious and progressive engineer who is able to work under his/her own initiative and wants to be part of a developing organisation. The role will allow good career progression opportunities either in a technical or a managerial role in the future. You will work in an organisation focused on adding value to the work we do for our clients, and everyone pulls together to make sure we deliver quality deliverables on-time and within budget. You will be challenged to progress, but also part of a friendly and technically excellent team and will always have close mentoring to help you develop to your full potential.

The base office is in Central London, but an enthusiasm to work periods of up to 6 weeks offshore would be desirable. As OWC continues to expand, there may also be the opportunity to work from other offices around the world.

Key responsibilities and duties

  • The Junior Subsea Cable Project Engineer will work as part of a team on engineering and consultancy assignments for a range of offshore wind projects.Duties in these projects will involve any or all of:
    • Site investigation management and supervision
    • Analysis related to cable installation and repair
    • Assist the Cable Project/Package manager during live projects
    • Detailed analyses or cable related issues, typical examples being scour or cable failures
    • Cable route Engineering, Planning, and cable burial risk assessment works
    • R&D projects to position OWC at the technical edge
  • In addition, the Junior Subsea Cable Project Engineer will be expected to:
    • Assist (as assigned by the Engineering Manager) to accomplish the overall delivery of optimum solutions to clients with the timeframe, costs and quality standards established.
    • Assist preparing tenders and proposals
    • Make presentations to prospective clients marketing the capabilities of OWC
    • Assist developing designs and specifications for construction projects
    • Attend regular internal meetings and external / third party meetings as required
    • Ensure all deliverables are conducted in full compliance with approved instructions, procedures and policies

  • The role is office based with flexibility to working hours
  • Offshore attendance and travel within Europe, and occasionally further overseas, may be required

Qualifications

  • Good quality degree in Engineering, specialising in Mechanical, Subsea, Civil engineering, or Naval Architecture, (or similar)

Taiwan

Title: Principal Consultant / Project Manager / Engineer
Location: Taipei, Taiwan

Job overview

The Principal Consultant / Project Manager / Engineer role is a full-time role with OWC. The role would see the successful applicant sharing a responsibility for meeting ambitious business growth objectives. This will allow the successful candidate to shape the future of the business in Taiwan and function within a growing and ambitious company. Direct input into the strategy and operation of OWC in Taiwan and APAC is expected and appreciated.

The Principal Consultant / Project Manager / Engineer will have responsibility for leading the OWC Taiwan team’s development and performance. This can include the delivery of engineering or consultancy project deliverables as part of discrete assignments or supporting projects being delivered to clients in the offshore renewables sector on a global basis.

The role is seen as key to developing new services, capabilities and tools, plus, engaging with OWC’s client base in direct sales and marketing engagements.

The role will also be client facing whereby the successful candidate will expected to bring new work into the company using existing contacts and having the commercial acumen to bring in new work. All this will be done whilst at the same time developing the profile of the OWC Taiwan team and managing the team within it. The successful applicant will be expected to work with and alongside the Business Development Director and OWC Taiwan Country Manger in developing and executing sales and marketing plans and activity.

It is vital that the Principal Consultant / Project Manager / Engineer ensures the continuous development of existing staff; the people management aspect of this role is vitally important.

They will be an ambassador for OWC’s technical excellence and also represent and promote engineering capabilities within the wider AqualisBraemar Group.

The Principal Consultant / Project Manager / Engineer shall contribute to and develop some or all of the following business areas:

  • Project Development Services
  • Project Consenting and Permitting Services
  • Geotechnical and Structural Engineering
  • Cables and Cable Installation
  • Electrical/grid engineering
  • Wind Turbine Generators
  • Floating wind

Key responsibilities and duties

  • Sustain professional excellence with respect to offshore wind development, engineering and construction / operational project processes and services.
  • Managing all resources at disposal and then recognizing any shortfall in resources and arrange for the team to be strengthened with either new FTEs or freelancers depending on the nature of the work and the future backlog and pipeline projections.
  • Ensure that OWC activities operate in accordance with all health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to guarantee the safety and wellbeing of staff, sub-contractors and any other third parties who may be impacted by our work.
  • Ensure work and technical quality standards are maintained and are consistent.
  • Support the preparation of budgets and forecasts for OWC Taiwan.
  • Monitor costs and performance of projects under your responsibility.
  • Manage any direct reports in a way that results in high retention rate, ensuring that all the team members have personal development plans and that they are developing in technical and communication skills required in a leading engineering consultancy.
  • Author technical or consultancy reports and present at conferences, showcasing OWC’s technical excellence.
  • Liaise and work closely with the Business Development Director and Country Manager in both the planning and execution of sales and marketing activities.

Specific requirements

  • The role is Taiwan based, but requires flexibility for Asian and global travel, as necessary, and this will be required as part of the position.
